Services?
Deconstruction is the process of hand dismantling a home in order to salvage usable portions of rooms or buildings. These items are then diverted to the Gorge Rebuild-it Center and added to our inventory. Whether a simple remodel is planned or a complete demolition is necessary, please consider all of the benefits of Deconstruction.
Deconstructed home before and during the deconstruction
Gorge Rebuild-it Center does not yet directly offer Deconstruction Services. However, we workm closely with private licensed contractors who specialize in Deconstruction Services (most notably: Tom Reid- Green Home Construction).
Likewise if a grant request to Oregon Department of Environmental Quality is awarded (we will find out in December), Gorge Rebuild-it Center will start "field services" in April 2008 by having an employee out in the community doing salvage work, and supporting the deconstruciton firms in the area to expand salvage and pick-up services.
When you use Deconstruction Services as an alternative to traditional "wrecking ball" demolition, the salvaged building materials recovered are a tax-deductible donation to Gorge Rebuild-it Center. Other advantages include:
- Reducing the environmental impact of building removal and construction
- Potentially reducing costs using the tax advantages
- Creating new, livable wage jobs in the Mid-Columbia area
- Supplying the Gorge Rebuild-it Center with quality affordable building materials available to the public
